Dayo Ojo, a football player with Enyimba Football Club of Aba, has been abducted by gunmen in Ondo State.

Ojo was kidnapped on Sunday alongside a friend identified as Benjamin Iluyomade of Abia Comet.

The two footballers, Dayo Ojo and and Benjamin Iluyomade were abducted Sunday evening on the Benin-Akure highway at Ipele town in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State on their way to Akure after their clubs declared an emergency holiday following the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country.

Ondo state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident but said the police were already on the trail of the kidnappers to secure the release of the victims.

Players of Sunshine Stars of Akure say the kidnappers have made a call and demanded for ransom.
