The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) the apex youth decision-making body for the enhancement of peace and youth development in Nigeria. It runs a legislative system of government with conglomeration of all state youth Ambassadors as parliamentarians.

Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) has thirty-seven (37) Youth Ambassadors, each representing the 36 states in Nigeria including FCT Abuja, 109 Coordinators for the 109 senatorial zones, 774 coordinators for the 774 local governments and ward chapters.

State of Osun Youth Assembly of Nigeria appreciate the proactiveness and preventive measures put in place by the state Government under the leadership of His Excellency Gboyega Oyetola to curb the spread of the deadly global pandemic.

Speaking with newsmen, the State of Osun YAN speaker Rt.Hon.Akande Evidence, flanked with YAN Ambassador Representing Osun Amb.Prince Popoola Timilehin said

The Youth Assembly Of Nigeria (YAN) Osun State chapter is seriously concerned by the newly pronounced lockdown by His Excellency, Gboyega Oyetola without well-defined appropriate and palliative measures to ease the plights of the Youths and vulnerable groups against the COVID-19 virus pandemic. Given the ongoing trend in reported cases of pandemic in the state and the country, we are concerned on the continuous abandonment of Youths from the distribution of lockdown palliatives in nooks and crannies of Osun State.

It’s pertinent to note that the age bracket defines by united nations now age 15 – 24 which shows that, that is when youth can work very well to feed their family and 90% of youth at the age live from hand to mouth. They learn trade which required daily selling like barber, tailor cobler, handset repairer, okada riders, KOROPE riders and more you can think about. With the existing level of poverty and youth unemployment in the country, we find it imperative for the government at all levels to implement stringent relief measures to mitigate socio-economic deprivation and social vices that might be triggered by the lockdown.

We therefore demand prompt and appropriate relief intervention and restructuring by the Government under the leadership of His Excellency Gboyega, Oyetola and the Honourable Commissioner For Youth and Sport, Mr. Yemi Lawal to redraw the map and include a sizeable numbers of the youth and other vulnerable groups in the palliative measure to alleviate the impacts of the lockdown on them and their families.”
