THE birth of democracy in Nigeria brought about a new wind of change with political office holders trying to justify what they were doing to uplift the standard of living of the people. This could be described as what gave birth to the term, ‘democratic dividends’. In some cases, the ‘democratic dividends’ were a mere mockery of what the electorates, the generality of the people, really deserves to make their lives better.
More laughable is the extent some of these political office holders go to attract attention or publicity to what they are doing for the people.
In contrast, Senator Adelere Oriolowo is delivering on his electoral promises with little efforts towards publicising what he is doing. His works speak for him, even critics who had access to the media have started using the word, ‘he tried but …’.
One thing about Senator Oriolowo is that, he is not a media politician but a political leader that prefers to do things in silent. His emergence into the position last year shows that APC is a party who is more concerned with electing the best of the best.
In all sectors, Senator Oriolowo has recorded successes and unlike some political office holders, who bring big names to commission projects, Senator Oriolowo has shown that his interest is in how his programmes are turning the lives of the people around positively and not about the glitz that commissioning of projects attracts in Nigeria.
Recently, Senator Oriolowo did a special intervention to the residents of Suberu Akinfende Town, Ojudo in Ayedaade local government by dredging the dreaded River crossing in their community, this which has caused a lot of loss to the community in recent years, he has also meet with the leadership of the Senate on how to eradicate poverty in Nigeria and how to create Jobs for the unemployed youths.
The results can be seen across the senatorial District when Senator Oriolowo empowered more than 100 youths across all local governments under him on solar street light installation, repair and maintenance.
Not forgetting the women, Senator Adelere Oriolowo empowered market women across the senatorial District with the sum of 2 million naira non refundable to start trades and boost economic activities in the state.
Not forgetting his primary duties at the Chambers he has raised different motions such was the motion on information and communication technology to raise awareness on conflicts resolution that will pave way for positive actions and he is the chairman of Senate committe on legislative compliance, where he Started an investigative hearing on the breach of Nigeria laws by foreign vessel owners.
His leadership class is not only creating transparency and accountability but also making the people to know that leadership is service. He may not be like the usual media political office holder but Senator Adelere Oriolowo is fulfilling his election promises to the people. He is a silent achiever who attributes his achievements to the grace of God.
